Conceição Cordovil

Lawyer

Conceição graduated in 1990 from the Catholic University of Lisbon. She has a postgraduate degree in European Law, also from the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University and, at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, the Specialization Course in Law Making and a postgraduate degree in Public Contract Law.

She has been a lawyer since 1993, having worked in the areas of environmental law, consumer protection, urban planning, and more recently in the areas of real estate and insurance. She interned at Sérvulo Correia & Associados, worked at Barclays Bank and was a legal consultant for several Departments of the Central State Administration as well as companies in the area of the Environment (e.g., General Environmental Inspectorate, Waste Institute, General Directorate of the Environment and Sociedade Ponto Verde, S.A.).

She was also, for 5 years, legal responsible for real estate leasing at Grupo Totta (today Santander/Totta), lawyer at the office of Luís Nobre Guedes and Diogo Leónidas Rocha and at the law firm PMBGR. Between 2000 and 2007 she was successively Legal Advisor to the Secretary of State for the Environment of the XIV Constitutional Government (1999-2002); Deputy and substitute for the Head of the Cabinet of the Minister of Cities, Spatial Planning and Environment of the XV Constitutional Government (2003-2004); Deputy and substitute for the Head of the Cabinet of the Minister of the Environment and Spatial Planning of the XVI Constitutional Government (2004-2005); and Head of the Cabinet of the Minister of the Environment, Spatial Planning and Regional Development of the XVII Constitutional Government (2005-2007).

Living in Madrid between 2007 and 2010, she was a consultant in the area of European and Spanish Environmental Law and was part of the AEA Technology Plc Team, in partnership with E.VALUE, S.A, which conducted the Environmental Performance Assessment of the European Center for Space Astronomy of the European Space Agency (AEE), having responsibility for matters relating to Legislative Review and Investment Incentives.

Returning to Portugal, she resumed practicing law in 2011 with a further interruption between 2013 and 2015 to be Deputy and substitute for the Head of the Office of the Secretary of State for the Treasury of the XIX Constitutional Government, with responsibilities in terms of managing the State's real estate assets and in Government's legislative process, with special focus on matters within the scope of the Ministry of Finance's responsibilities.

She returned to law after being appointed Chief of Staff of the Secretary of State for the Treasury of the 20th Constitutional Government.

He has extensive experience in legislative procedures, in most areas, having dedicated himself in particular to consultancy in the areas of environmental law, urban planning, real estate and insurance.

He was head of the President's office of the mission structure for Integrated Rural Fire Management in 2018, and then returned to law. Since 2022 she has worked at FlorestaGal – Empresa de Gestão e Desenvolvimento Florestal, S.A. as legal director.
