Alice Bethencourt Reis

Lawyer

Alice graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Universidade Clássica de Lisboa and has been registered with the Bar since 1976.

She was the founder of the Portuguese Section of the International Insurance Law Association (AIDA), of which she was Vice-President.

For 13 years she was Director of Legal Services and International Relations at the National Insurance Institute, later the Insurance Institute of Portugal, in charge of drafting all the diplomas regulating insurance activity.

Between 1992 and 1994 he was President of the Professional Civil Liability Committee of the Comité Européen des Assurances, in Paris. She was a director of Companhia de Seguros Fidelidade, S.A. from 1994 to 2002 and, on her behalf, was President of Companhia Portuguesa de Resseguros.

From 2002 to 2009 he was CEO of Companhia de Seguros Sagres. He was also president of CIMASA – Automobile Insurance Intermediation, Mediation and Arbitration Center.

She gave several training courses, namely at the Catholic University, on community law, insurance law, motor vehicle liability and general civil liability.

Speaks Portuguese, English, French and Spanish.
